These are placed behind the auricle (see figure) and transmit sound to the eardrum through the tube connected to a made-to-measure earpiece which is inserted in the auditory canal. The size of these appliances makes them very easy for the patient to adjust and use, and are therefore recommended for persons with problems of precise movement. Behind-the-ear hearing-aids are the only appliances able to deliver a volume suitable for improving serious and absolute hearing loss problems. |
